Science at the Lighthouse

Come and join in the fun activities at The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses on 13th March. Staff from the Museum and Satrosphere, Aberdeen's science centre, are running activities and workshops all day from 10.30am-3.30pm as part of National Science and Engineering Week.

National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW) is a ten day programme of science, engineering and technology events and activities across the UK aimed at people of all ages, which is now in its 17th year! The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses took part for the first time in 2009 with a 'Build a Lighthouse Competition'.

"The competition was a great success" said Director Virginia Mayes-Wright. "This year Science at the Lighthouse will give everyone a chance to build their own lighthouse".

For the 2010 event The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses has teamed up with Satrosphere, Aberdeen's science centre, and gained funding to run a Science at the Lighthouse day. Events will include a Satrosphere show, lighthouse building, a 'Salt and Shake Lighthouse' workshop and a variety of games to test your skills.

Lynsey Thompson, Outreach and Events Manager at Satrosphere commented, 'We really enjoy working with the Lighthouse Museum in Fraserburgh, it's great to have such an interesting venue to work from.'
