Sci-High Forensic Science Events

Out of and in school events, student and teacher resources, CPD age range 11-19.

The scheme provides forensic science events for schools or colleges, and is run by a former professional forensic scientist. The events include the principles of forensic science, quiz and discussion, a crime scene examination, an investigation of a burglary or simulated assault, and realistic mini-trials where pupils present evidence in a courtroom setting. All resource materials are provided along with an information pack for each participant. The emphasis is on quality learning, fun and inclusivity. The scheme illustrates real-world professional science, the difference between findings and interpretations and the importance of communication in science. The content is relevant to physics, chemistry and biology learning in KS3 and KS4, to enquiry, evidence and evaluation, and to the use of language across the curriculum.
