Target audience is S1-S6 , pupils parents and guardians, plus Teachers etc. Students will be running demonstration within the labs, and there will be an opportunity to talk to students and visit IT labs, and other labs.

The RCUK Science in Society Team announced its award scheme for 2009 to support public engagement activities in National Science and Engineering Week 2009 (6-15 March 2009). Applications are welcome from researchers or PhD students funded by one of the seven research councils as well as those working in the arts, life, earth and social sciences wishing to engage the public with issues relating to science and engineering.

Ben Fogle and James Cracknell, as Team QinetiQ will be taking part in the first race to the Geographic South Pole since Scott and Amundsen's legendary duel nearly 100 years ago. The race covers over 400 miles across one of the harshest environments in the world and takes place during the short Antarctic summer of December 2008 and January 2009.

New STEMNET Contract Holders Announced
On the 1 August 2008 the new STEMNET contracts have started. From 1 August there are four STEMNET contract holders in Scotland, one for each of the following regions: Scotland East, West, North East and Highlands and Islands. The contract holders will be able to give you advise on STEM activities in Schools and tell you about the Science Ambassadors Scheme.
