Activities Directory for North Region

The following activities are available with the North Region.

Science Festivals

The following science festivals are located in the North Region.

  • Caithness Science Festival Science workshops, shows and talks in Thurso and Wick in March.
  • Festival of the Sea This new science festival is a new initiative by the Scottish Association of Marine Science (SAMS). A full educational programme will take place, including childrens competitions, walks, talks, film, drama, and debate.
  • Inverness Science Fesival The Inverness Science Festival starts in June 2010 and offers different events and activities throughout the whole month.
  • Moray Science Festival Fun science shows, hands-on activities, and lectures at Moray College in Elgin in March.
  • Orkney Science Festival This science festival is held in September. A science festival is first and foremost a festival, something for the whole community to enjoy, something fresh and creative, with surprises and excitement and sheer enjoyment.
  • Shetland Science Festival This Science Festival is held biannually in September.

Others Activities

The following others activities are located in the North Region.

  • Generation Science Generation Science an inspiring primary schools outreach programme of 17 interactive shows and hands on workshops supporting teachers in the delivery of the curriculum for excellence. We visit schools throughout the country from Shetland to Dumfries with over 60,000 children enjoying our shows each year.
  • Hebridean SciTech Festival This new Science Festival takes place in Stornoway. On Saturday morning family workshops for all ranges are running.
