Junior Engineer for Britain K'Nex Challenge aims to provide primary school pupils (P4-P6) with an exciting introduction to the world of Engineering and Technology by inviting them to produce a specific design solution for a problem and then build it using K'Nex.
K'NEXT Generation:It's Not Rocket science!
Following a presenter led discussion about rocket power and the forces involved when rockets leave the Earth, pupils will work in teams of 3, as they design and build their own rocket powered vehicle. Each team will then have a chance to demonstrate to their class mates how their vehicle works and explain any problems they encountered and how they solved them. There will then be an opportunity for pupils to improve their vehicle, armed with the knowledge gained from testing and discussion.

'Maths in the Pipeline' is a full day of mathematical workshops and challenge for 15 year olds based on the applications of mathematics in the oil and gas industry. All the workshops are based on real data and the Captain Field in the Moray Firth is used as an example.
Maths Masterclasses
This series takes place on 8 Saturday mornings between October and February. Forty places are available for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire pupils each year and schools are asked to nominate S2 pupils who would both enjoy and benefit from this opportunity. Interested teachers are most welcome to attend any of the classes and their support as tutors is invaluable.

Nuffield Science Bursaries for Schools and Colleges
The Nuffield Bursary scheme is aimed at 5th year school or college students who are interested in the sciences, technology, engineering and/or mathematics. The aim is to allow the students to carry out a 4-6 week research or development project in universities, colleges, industry, research or conservation organisations during the summer break. Unlike work experience schemes, students carry out projects that are well-defined from the start, have an outcome that is achievable within the time available and which will make a contribution to the work of the host organisation.
